Career guidance for your homeschool teenager

Orientate is a science-backed career guidance and planning platform built specifically for Australian homeschool families It gives your teenager the self-awareness and direction that used to require a costly visit to an educational psychologist.

  • 3 Science-backed assessments

  • Early career discovery

  • Built for homeschool families with students in Years 7–12 across Australia

Orientate

Don’t miss out!

We’re inviting a small group of Australian families to try the platform first for free. Early access is currently prioritised for existing Reflective Home families. Assessments and career discovery are available now. Subject and tertiary tools are coming soon.

Homeschooling gives you freedom.
Career planning takes it further.

Homeschooling gives Australian families extraordinary freedom and flexibility. It also means the career guidance and counselling that schools provide now rests entirely with you. Most career planning tools were built for traditional school systems, not for independent learners.

Career counselling built for schools

Most career counselling services and guidance tools assume a traditional school structure, an ATAR pathway, and a one-size approach. Homeschool learners are a different context entirely, and deserve tools built for them.

ATAR isn’t the only route

Homeschool graduates have many excellent routes into university, TAFE, and work, but most guidance content still treats ATAR as the default, leaving other pathways underexplored.

Decisions deserve a solid foundation

Subject and career direction are some of the biggest choices a young person makes. They deserve to be grounded in genuine self-knowledge, not guesswork, family opinion, or a random online quiz.

How it works

Self-awareness first. Direction follows.

Orientate guides your homeschool teenager through four stages of career discovery and pathway planning, where each stage builds on the last. Stages one and two are available now. Stages three and four launch in July 2026.

Parent progress portal

Access your child’s results and monitor their progress through a dedicated Parent Portal.

The assessments

Three assessments.One integrated career profile.

Orientate runs three assessments inside a single platform. Each measures a distinct dimension of who your teenager is. Together they build one integrated career profile, combining vocational interests, personality, and learning style into a clear foundation for confident career planning.

Asssesment 1:

Interests & Strengths

HOLLAND OCCUPATIONAL THEMES

A vocational interest inventory that identifies your teenager’s strongest interest areas across six work types: Thinker, Helper, Creator, Organiser, Influencer, and Builder. The foundation of the entire career profile. It is directly linked to the career library and pathway planning tools.

Asssesment 2:

Personality Traits

BIG FIVE / OCEAN MODEL

The most empirically robust personality model in modern psychology. Measures Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Emotional Stability — on a spectrum, not in a box.

Asssesment 3:

Learning Style

VARK LEARNING STYLES

Identifies how your teenager learns and processes information best — across Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, and Kinaesthetic preferences. Particularly useful for homeschool families designing their own curriculum approach.

Asssesment 4:

Core Values

SWARTZ VALUE SCALES

Explores how your teenager’s core values align with different types of work. Values are the “why” behind long-term motivation — aligning choices to values is what turns a career into a calling.

Asssesment 5:

EQ & Cognitive Ability

GAMIFIED SCENARIO-BASED

Measures emotional intelligence and cognitive ability through engaging, scenario-based questions. Surfaces both strengths to build on and areas for development, all in an interactive format.

Built into Assessment 1

Entrepreneurial Intent

VARK LEARNING STYLES

An additional 20 questions within the Interests & Strengths assessment that identify early signs of entrepreneurial thinking and suitability. Included at no extra charge.

One integrated career profile

Interests, personality, and learning style combine into a single profile that powers career matching, subject guidance, and pathway planning — not three separate reports.

Why Orientate

Built for the path you’ve chosen.

Most career guidance tools and counselling services are built for school systems. Orientate is built specifically for Australian homeschool families who’ve chosen a different path, and that shapes every decision we’ve made.

Grounded in science

Every assessment uses frameworks trusted by psychologists, universities, and employers worldwide, not proprietary quizzes built to sell products.

Homeschool-first by design

Orientate is designed from the ground up for curriculum-flexible, self-directed, and non-ATAR contexts — not adapted from a school system that wasn’t built for you.

A platform, not a report

Unlike a one-off educational psychologist report, Orientate grows with your teenager throughout Years 7 to 12. It’s a living career planning resource they return to, update, and build on year after year.

Exceptional value

A traditional educational psychologist charges $1,500–$3,000 for a single, static report. Orientate delivers far more depth, as an ongoing platform, for $99 AUD once-off.

Validated frameworks.
Not best guesses.

Homeschool parents are research-driven. Orientate is built on the same evidence-based frameworks that psychologists, universities, and employers use worldwide, each with decades of peer-reviewed research behind them. This is career guidance you can stand behind.

Common questions

Questions from curious parents.

The questions we hear most often from Reflective Home families considering Orientate.

Who is the early access offer open to?2026-05-06T09:25:41+00:00

Early access is prioritised for existing Reflective Home customers with a learner in Years 7 to 8. Places are limited. The full platform at general release will be available to all families with learners across Years 7 to 12 — homeschool or otherwise. Register your interest below and we will be in touch.

What is available now2026-05-07T14:05:22+00:00

All three assessments and the complete self-awareness profile are fully available now, alongside career discovery tools and AI navigator. Subject choice guidance, the tertiary pathway navigator, the CV builder, and short courses are in development — subject and tertiary tools launch in July 2026.

When will the subject and tertiary tools be ready?2026-05-06T09:15:45+00:00

We are working with Yenza to localise Australian curriculum and tertiary pathway data. We will notify all registered families as soon as these tools are live. Early access families carry over automatically with no disruption to their profile.

How much does it cost?2026-05-06T09:15:39+00:00

The full platform is $99 AUD once-off — no subscription and no recurring charges. All future tools that are added to the platform are included in that price. Early access families try the platform free first.

How long do the assessments take?2026-05-06T09:15:33+00:00

Each of the three assessments takes around 7–10 minutes, so the full set takes approximately 20–30 minutes in total. They can be done in one session or spread across a few days — whatever suits your teenager.

How is Orientate different from a free career quiz?2026-05-06T09:15:27+00:00

Free quizzes typically produce a generic personality label with a vague list of careers. Orientate runs three validated assessments across different dimensions of who your teenager is, then links the combined profile to career directions — and from July 2026, to subject and pathway planning. The depth and longevity are genuinely incomparable.

Who can I contact for support?2026-05-06T09:15:21+00:00

Support is available via home@reflective.global and through Yenza’s in-app support assistant. We are a small, responsive team and happy to help.

Does it cover non-ATAR pathways?2026-05-06T09:15:14+00:00

Yes. The platform does not assume an ATAR pathway. The upcoming tertiary pathway navigator will treat TAFE, direct entry, apprenticeships, and bridging programs as equal, first-class options alongside university routes — reflecting the reality of how most homeschool graduates enter higher education and work.

What makes Orientate better than a free online career quiz?2026-05-06T09:15:10+00:00

Free online quizzes typically produce a vague personality label attached to a generic list of jobs. Orientate runs three validated assessments — a vocational interest inventory, a personality assessment, and a learning style tool — and combines them into a single integrated career profile. Career planning built on that depth of self-knowledge produces genuinely different, and more confident, decisions. Further assessments covering values and EQ are added at public launch.

Is Orientate an alternative to an educational psychologist for homeschool students? +2026-05-06T09:15:05+00:00

Orientate uses the same validated frameworks that educational psychologists and careers counsellors use — the Holland Occupational Themes and Big Five personality model (with further frameworks added at public launch) — and delivers them as an interactive, ongoing platform for $99 AUD once-off, rather than a one-off report costing $1,500 to $3,000. It is not a clinical assessment service, but for career guidance and pathway planning purposes it provides exceptional depth at a fraction of the cost.

Can Orientate be used for non-homeschool learners?2026-05-06T09:14:55+00:00

Absolutely. While Orientate has been developed with Australian homeschool families in mind — and the early access program is currently open to existing Reflective Home families — the platform works equally well for any motivated teenager, regardless of how they learn. Whether your child attends a traditional school, is in a flexi-school arrangement, or is schooled in some other way entirely, the assessments, career discovery tools, and pathway tools are just as relevant. Career self-awareness is universal. We simply started with homeschoolers because that’s the community we know best.
