Accelerate English Learning for Students Year 5-9

Lingo is a supplementary English learning tool built for schools. It helps students in Years 5–9 rapidly strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing – the foundations for success across the curriculum.

Lingo

The Challenge
in English

Lingo is designed to fix these challenges by making English learning personal, targeted, and measurable.

  • Skill Gaps: Many pupils enter upper primary with weak foundations in reading, writing, and comprehension

  • EAL Learners: Growing numbers of pupils learning English as an additional language need targeted support. Growing classroom diversity and the need for accessible, inclusive English tools.

  • SATs Pressure: Schools face rising expectations to improve reading and writing outcomes at KS2 and beyond.

  • Ofsted’s renewed emphasis: on oracy and vocabulary development.

  • Limited Resources: Teachers juggle intervention, differentiation, and assessment with limited time.

How Lingo Works

Lingo is not a replacement curriculum. It’s a supplementary tool that empowers teachers to close gaps, accelerate catch-up, and lift outcomes across English.

01

Device + internet, one hour per week

Each student requires access to a tablet or laptop with internet for just 60 minutes per week per subject.

02

Granular diagnostics that pinpoints gaps

Each student begins with a quick assessment that identifies their strengths and learning gaps, even those gaps dating back to year 1.

03

Each student Is unique!

Lingo builds a unique catch up plan for every student based on their own understanding. If a concept is mastered, we move on. If a gap exists, we slow down and fill it – step by step, concept by concept.

04

No extra admin for busy teachers

No planning, no marking. Teachers simply set aside the time, and Lingo does the remediation.

What does Lingo consist of?

At its core, Lingo addresses the four pillars of functional English

Pillar 1: Visual Communication

Interpreting meaning, events and emotions within pictures.

Pillar 2: Oral Comprehension

Recognising and listening for information to infer purpose and meaning.

Pillar 3: Written Comprehension

Producing sentences while interpreting text and figures of speech

Pillar 4: Language Structure

Using punctuation and grammar to construct sentences correctly.
